    • The TITLE of the abstract (capital letters, 12 pts)
    • All authors’ names as follow: First letter of the Name + Surname (e.g. J. Smith), Times New Roman, 10 pts
    • Underlined presenting author
    • Indicated affiliation / institution, Times New Roman, 10 pts, italic
    • In case of more than one affiliation / institution, please indicate them in the proper field following the order pointed out for each one of the authors. (e.g. Authors: J. Smith 1, F. Lewis 2, A. Burton 3 Affiliation: 1 Saint Paul Hospital 2 Cambridge University 3 Oxford University).

To encourage young people to attend the meeting, the General Meeting of the EUBS in 1997 agreed to allocate up to a maximum of Euro 2.500 to be offered to students as travel grants to the Society’s Annual Scientific Meetings. The following conditions apply:
  1. The applicant shall be registered as a full-time university student in a relevant field.
  2. The applicant shall be working towards a scientific degree with relevance to diving or hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
  3. The applicant shall submit an abstract to 38th EUBS Annual Scientific Meeting, which must be accepted for presentation, and submit a mini-paper of their presentation by the deadline for publication in the Proceedings. This paper will be peer reviewed for consideration of publication in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine. Although publication cannot be guaranteed (indeed thus far, all such submissions have been rejected for publication), the editors of DHM will assist in every way they can. Acceptance for publication in DHM is not a prerequisite for the award of a Travel Grant.
  4. Oral and poster presentations will be equally acceptable.
  5. The number of students receiving a travel grant may vary, depending on number of applicants, with a maximum of three per year.
  6. The absolute size of each individual travel grant may vary according to actual size of travel expenses, but is limited to a maximum of 800 Euros. The Grant can only be used for travel costs and lodging (on the basis of economy class), and the relative amount (i.e. the percentage of total travel costs) will be the same for all recipients.
  7. The deadline for the submission of applications is May 15th 2012, for 38th EUBS Annual Scientific Meeting.
  8. The application must include:
    1. A statement from the student's supervisor confirming that the student is registered as a full time university student in a relevant field and is currently working towards a scientific degree.
    2. An abstract submitted for presentation in the meeting.
    3. A detailed budget on travel expenses to the meeting. The travel should be as economical as possible.
  9. Applications should be submitted on www.eubs2012.org
Evaluation of applications and selection of recipients will be performed by a Committee consisting of two members of the local Scientific Committee of the meeting, plus one member of the EUBS Executive Committee.
To promote the poster as a good way to spread scientific information, EUBS decided in 1998 to initiate "The Zetterström Award" for the best poster presentation at the EUBS Annual Meeting. The award for the best poster consists of a diploma and one free registration fee to the next EUBS Annual Meeting. Authors submitting a poster abstract for the Zetterström Award must bear in mind that this abstract/paper must not have been submitted or accepted for publication in other journals and that the authors are prepared to submit their paper for peer review for publication in Diving & Hyperbaric Medicine within 12 months. Posters can compete only if they have not been published or submitted previously elsewhere. During the 38th EUBS Annual Scientific Meeting, September 12th – 15th 2012 all posters will participate in the Zetterström award, unless clearly indicated by authors indicating their intention not to participate.
